Conference on "Participation in public and political life for people with disabilities"

The National Disability Authority and European Parliament Information Office in Ireland are jointly hosting a conference on the opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in public and political life on an equal basis with others.  The event takes place on the morning of Friday 24th May 2013 in the Croke Park Conference Centre and attendance is free of charge.

This conference will focus on current challenges to political participation for people with disabilities, including standing for elections, involvement in political parties, and voting. Topics include voter education, accessible communications and international perspectives. The keynote speaker is Rt Hon David Blunkett, MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough, and former UK Government Minister.
