Dublin Primary School in Workshop with Chamber Orchestra of Europe

Musicians from the Chamber Orchestra of Europe gave a special workshop for children from a Dublin primary school at the European Parliament Office on Monday, 11 February.

Pupils of Scoil Mhuire in Ballyboden, Dublin were introduced to the wind instruments of the orchestra, and heard excerpts from works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Dukas, Schubert and Prokofiev, before playing some pieces together with Chamber Orchestra members Alison Alty (oboe), Marie Lloyd (clarinet) and Christopher Gunia (bassoon).

This event was organised by the European Parliament Office in Ireland under the auspices of the European Public Spaces project.

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe, directed by Hungarian pianist and conductor Andràs Schiff, gave its first-ever concert in Dublin last weekend. The orchestra is part-funded by the European Union and is open to musicians from all EU Member States.
