EP officials go back to school

EP officials will be returning to school this week to talk to students about how the European Union works and what career opportunities are available.  The EU-wide 'Back to School' project sends officials of the EU institutions back to school for a day - if possible to a school where they were once a student.

Officials from the European Parliament will be returning to school this week to talk to students about how the European Union works and what career opportunities are available.  The EU-wide 'Back to School' project sends officials of the EU institutions back to school for a day - if possible to a school where they were once a student.

The schools being visted are:

Chanel College, Coolock will hear from Feargus O'Beara who visits his old school on 19 February.  Feargus  is an an adviser to the Deputy Secretary General of the European Parliament in Brussels.  

Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ, Limerick will be visited by former pupil (1998-2004) Aoife Murphy on 20 February.  Aoife currently works as a lawyer-linguist in the European Parliament in Brussels.

St Paul's CBS,  North Brunswick Street, Dublin will hear from  past pupil Joseph Dunne on 20 February.  Joseph was deputy head of Pat Cox's private office when he was EP President, and head of the secretariat of the Internal Market (IMCO) committee for seven years. He now heads up a new strategic policy development and assessment unit on European Added Value in Brussels.  

Meánscoil Iognáid Rís (CBS), Co Kildare will see past pupil Peter O'Sullivan back to school on Thursday 21 February.  Peter is an Irish lawyer linguist based in Brussels.

Heywood Community School, Balinakill, Co Laois will be visited by Niall O'Neill  who attended the school from 1971-1976 while growing up in North Kilkenny.  Niall is currently Head of Accreditation at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Scoil Mhuire Presentation Convent, Clane, Co Kildare will be visited by Dónal Walsh on Thursday 21 February.
