An information seminar on the latest negotiations recently concluded between the European Parliament, Council and Commission on the new Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD) to run from 2014 to 2020 will take place on Friday 13 December in the European Parliament Information Office in Dublin from 9.30am-11.30 am. The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) is currently holding an open competition to select candidates for recruitment as lawyer-linguists in the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. This seminar will provide attendees with a first-hand insight into the work of a lawyer-linguist in the EU Institutions and a detailed overview of the key stages of EPSO’s recruitment process. This half-day seminar will help political organisations to communicate with the one in seven voters that have a disability. This seminar is particularly aimed at those who will be responsible for getting messages to voters, through election materials, websites, social media, political broadcasts and other communication tools.The event is jointly organised by the National Disability Authority and the European Parliament Information Office. In co-operation with AKIDWA and Polonia Forum, this day long event will feature workshops for local activists to register immigrant and minority group voters and to encourage participation in the European Elections in May 2014. The event will be opened by Emer Costello MEP and will feature a contribution from Chris Wooley, an expert and activist in registration of immigrant and minority groups in the UK. The Broken Circle Breakdown, Miele and The Selfish Giant, begin their journey across Europe. The three films in competition for the LUX Prize will be shown this week at the Indie Cork Film Festival (October 16 - 20). The festival will be the first stop of the LUX FILM DAYS. Miele will start the screenings on 18 (Gate Cinema, 9pm). It will be followed by The Selfish Giant on Saturday 19 and The Broken Circle Breakdown – which is also the festival’s closing film - on Sunday 20.
