European Funding to be explained in Sligo Meeting
On Friday 1 March next, the European Parliament is hosting an information session on funding available to businesses, and for local and rural development and cross-border projects.
The meeting will be opened by John Perry TD, Minister for Small Business. Local MEP Marian Harkin as well as the Derry based MEP, Martina Anderson will chair the sessions. MEP Jim Higgins will speak on the Multiannual Financial Framework.
Speakers from Enterprise Ireland, Sligo Leader Group, the European Enterprise Network and the Western Development Commission and the Special EU Programmes Body will also speak. There will be a wide range of information available to budding entrepreneurs and those who wish to begin or expand a business or local development project. Support for Rural Development projects which is an increasingly important focus of EU economic policies will also be covered.
Of special interest will be the presentation of two case studies by Sail West and iFactory, both highly successful projects that have received grant aid from European Union funds. They will highlight the process to obtain funds, the pitfalls to avoid and how funds were used to develop their businesses.
