International Women's Day event in Dublin Castle, 7 March 2014

International Women's day will be marked in Dublin Castle Conference Centre and the event is already a sell-out!  Jointly hosted by the European Parliament Office in Ireland and Network Ireland, a full-house of 150 people will throng to Dublin Castle to hear an excellent panel of speakers including Emer Costello MEP, and speakers from the National Women's Council of Ireland and Concern International, one of Europe's largest development agencies with operations in over 50 countries.

Speakers will hear that although a great deal has been achieved in the march towards equality, there are many hurdles remaining and not least the necessity to tackle the problem of violence against women, not only in Ireland but worldwide.  Concern International will present their actions on behalf of women in the developing world where violence remains at horrific levels especially in war zones.  The event will be compered by Mary Kennedy, one of Ireland's most popular TV presenters.

On Wednesday 5th March, Parliament's Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality will hold a meeting in Brussels with representatives from National Parliaments "Preventing Violence Against Women - A Challenge for All".  See links across.
