Irish petition about the impact of quarrying on a community water supply in Cork to be heard by MEPs

On Tuesday, 23 February, Barry Curtin will present a petition on behalf of Watergrasshill Community Association. The petitioners allege that thedecision by Cork County Council to allow for quarrying above an aquifer contravenes EU environmental laws and is endangering the community's water supply.

The petition will be heard at the European Parliament in Brussels by MEPs from the Parliament's Petitions Committee. It is due to be heard at 2pm Irish time and the proceedings can be viewed live at EP live.

Seán Kelly (Fine Gael - South) will speak on behalf of the petitioners.

Please see the Agenda for the Committee for further information.
