Irish youth at European Youth Event (EYE), 20-21 May 2016, Strasbourg

Ireland is well represented at the EYE 2016 taking place in the European Parliament in Strasbourg this weekend with participants from the Meath Youth Forum, Foroige, Macra na Feirme, The Galway European Youth Capital and Galway 2020 Capital of Culture. The NYCI are also there with a group of 30 young people and youth workers/leaders from Youth Work Ireland Galway, YMCA Cork, FDYS Wexford, Eco-Unesco, Crosscare, Ronanstown Youth Service, and youth work students from Maynooth. Ian Fahey and Paul Dockery from SpunOut.ie are reporting live from the EYE on Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram.

Background

From war to unemployment, the EYE is the perfect occasion for young people from all four corners of Europe to make their views heard on many of the continent's most crucial issues. There will be political debates and workshops with decision-makers as well as high profile speakers from the business world and civil society. As a follow-up a report with some of the best ideas from the event will be presented to MEPs. Former EYE participants will also have the opportunity to present the most concrete ideas produced by young people to a number of parliamentary committees and receive feedbacks from Members. The event's motto is "Together we can make a change"
