LUX Prize Film at Animation Dingle Festival
We are pleased to link with the Dingle Film Festival to screen the Lux Film Prize finalist, "My Life as a Courgette". This special showing with dialogue in original French and with Irish sub-titles (Mo shaol mar chúirséad) is an animated feature. MEP Liadh Ní Riada will introduce the film which takes place in the Phoenix Cinema on Sunday 26 March at 12h00.
The film tells the story of a child who loses his mother and has to start a new life in a children's home. Personal experience of the other children in the home has taught them not to expect anything from grown-ups. Told from a child's point of view, it poses serious questions to adults. What kind of example do we set for our children? Are we raising children to ensure their optimal development? To what extent do adults' failings impact on children?
The Lux Film Prize is awarded annually by the European Parliament to European films that treat social or political topics. "My Life as a Courgette" was short-listed for the 2016 prize. Short-listed films are sub-titled in all of the official languages of the EU including Irish.
