Primary School Teachers visit the EP in Brussels

A group of 21 primary school teachers took part in an information visit to Brussels on 9 and 10 July.Their schools had successfully completed the Blue Star Programme with each class, from Junior Infants up to Sixth Class, participating in the Programme.  The teachers visited the European Commission on Monday 9th July and were briefed on various topical issues.  On Tuesday morning the group visited the new visitors centre, the Parlamentarium, which they found most informative.  The group then met Irish MEPs who gave an overview of their work and answered questions from the teachers.  The teachers really appreciated the time the MEPs spent with them.  After lunch a briefing on the forthcoming Irish Presidency was given at the Irish Permenant Representation by Rory Montgomery, Permanent Representative, Aingeal O'Donohue, and Marcella Smyth.
