Screening of LUX Prize Films at Dingle Film Festival

The Dingle International Film Festival will this week screen two of the shortlisted films of the European Parliament's Lux Film Prize. Western will be screened on Friday 23 March at 12 midday and SAMI Blood on Sunday 25 March at 5 pm. Both screenings will take place in the Phoenix Cinema.

Western follows a group of German workers who set off to a construction site in the border region between Bulgaria and Greece – a foreign land that awakens the men’s sense of adventure, but also forces them to face their own prejudice and mistrust owing to the language barrier and various cultural differences. While SAMI Blood, the winner of the 2017 Lux Film Prize, tells the vibrant tale of a young Lapp girl who dreams of a different life and distances herself from her community with great anguish, because of the racist attitudes they have to face.
