The EU Communication Challenge - a workshop for media students on Friday, 15 April
On Friday, 15 April, the European Parliament and European Commission offices in Ireland will hold a special workshop for third-level media students entitled 'The EU Communication Challenge'. Participants will hear from RTÉ's European Correspondent, Paul Cunningham, a European Commission spokesperson (name TBC) and Gay Mitchell MEP, as they provide their views on the challenges associated with communicating EU issues. The participants will then be invited to take on the challenge for themselves in interactive workshops. Places for this event are limited and will be allocated on a 'first-come, first-served' basis.
The event will begin on Friday, 15 April with a 15-minute whistle-stop tour of the EU, its institutions and its activities, courtesy of UCD's Dr Ben Tonra. Participants will then hear from the invited speakers about their experiences with the EU Communication Challenge and with the assistance of the speakers, working journalists and Press Officers, the students will take on the challenge for themselves. The results of their efforts will be played for all to hear and discuss and the event will conclude with a reception.
