The Lux Film Prize

The European Parliament LUX FILM PRIZE casts an annual spotlight on films that go to the heart of European public debate. Films selected for the competition focus on some of the main social and political issues of the day and, as such, contribute to building a stronger European identity.

Winner of the 2017 LUX Prize

The winner of the 2017 European Parliament LUX Prize is Swedish/Norwegian/Danish co-production "Sámi Blood" as announced by President Antonio Tajani at a ceremony in Strasbourg on 14 November 2017.  The film tells the story of a young Sami girl who abandons her community because she dreams of a different life, but to pursue her goal she has to face racist attitudes.

The movie is being screened during the 2017 Cork Film Festival.
