'Use Your Vote' Roadshow takes to the road again
On Monday, 25 May, the 'Use Your Vote' Elections Roadshow will take to the road again, travelling to Leitrim, Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Laois, Tipperary and Kerry. The European Parliament is calling on the EU's 375 million potential voters to use their votes in the forthcoming European Elections. In Ireland, the elections will take place on Friday, 5 June. The double-decker 'Use Your Vote' bus is intended "to raise awareness among potential voters in Ireland, whether Irish or from any other EU Member State, about the importance of participating in the European Elections and the impact the work of MEPs has on the daily lives of EU citizens" said Francis Jacobs, Head of the European Parliament Office in Ireland.
The European Parliament will take decisions over the next 5 years that will affect the lives of all EU citizens. In Ireland, voters will elect 12 MEPs across four constituencies - Dublin, East, North West and South (3 each). "The EU plays an important role in the lives of its citizens - whether it's the food we eat, the water we drink, the cars we drive or the air we breathe," said Mr Jacobs, "so the campaign will draw voters' attention to the elections' relevance to their own personal life."
