V4 Ireland candidate debate to take place in Dublin
Tomorrow, 4 June, the V4 Ireland project will host a candidate debate in conjunction with the European Parliament Office in Ireland ahead of Friday's European Elections. The V4 Ireland project brings together four communities of EU citizens from Central Europe, currently living in Ireland. The Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic all form part of the Visegrad Group (V4) and share a common history. The project was founded by the communities to work on the needs of their participants in the fields of social inclusion, promotion and community development.
The debate will take place at European Union House on Dawson Street at 6pm and is an attempt to provide candidates for the European Elections with an opportunity to inform voters from the four participating communities directly about their work and in particular, to respond to questions on the following themes:
- the acceptance of European legislation with regard to agency workers
- the education of non-national children
- cross-border health care and the European health insurance system
- distribution of funds from the European Social Fund
