Workshop on "Shaping Ireland's and Europe's Future", 8 November 2013, Cork

The European Parliament’s Information Office in Ireland and The Wheel would like to invite you to a workshop - Shaping Ireland’s and Europe’s Future - on 8 November (9.30am to 1.30pm) in the River Lee Hotel, Western Road, Cork, to help develop a strong compelling vision for the European social model, the economy and environment in the years ahead. This free event is open to the public, as well as community and voluntary organisations. Registration is required.

The European Elections will be held in 2014 and the run-up to them provides us with an opportunity step back, look at the big picture and consider what sort of Europe we want to live in. It's time to take step back, look at the big picture and consider the exciting possibilities that are open to us. What do we want for our future? What should our priorities be for society, the economy and the environment?

The event will include:
  • three short presentations on the European Economy, the European Social Model and the Environment delivered by experts Nat O’Connor (TASC), Robin Hannan (EAPN), and a representative of Environmental Pillar;
  • parallel discussions in working groups by participants to identify the priorities;
  • feedback from the floor;
  • Q&A with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).
