Statement by Parliament's lead negotiator Alain Lamassoure, after concluding the negotiations on the MFF 2014-2020
Statement by Parliament's lead negotiator Alain Lamassoure
"The delegations of the Irish Presidency and the European Parliament have concluded the negotiations regarding the MFF. Priorities from Parliament have been taken on board.
However, Parliament is not in a position to give its final approval at this stage, given that the positions of the political groups in the negotiating team are different. Parliament will do its utmost so that the Irish Presidency can present the negotiated package to the General Affairs Council on June 25th.
In case of an agreement in the Council, the text of the agreement will be put to a vote during the plenary session in July.
I underline that the package should also address the issue of the payment shortfalls in 2013."
