Committee and political group meetings

Commissioner hearing. MEPs from three parliamentary committees will quiz Maltese Commissioner-designate Tonio Borg on his competence to take up the health and consumer portfolio. (Tuesday)

Spanish and Greek ministers. As part of MEP's ongoing 'economic dialogue' with EU governments, the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee will debate with Spanish economy minister Luis De Guindos Jurado on Monday. Economics and employment MEPs will debate with Greek finance minister Giannis Stournaras and Greek labour minister Ioannis Vroutsis on Tuesday.

Emissions trading reform. The Environment Committee and external experts will discuss Commission proposals to delay trading on a number of carbon credits, which aim to support climate protection and green investment. (Monday)

Money laundering. The special committee on organised crime will debate channels and techniques used for money laundering, such as sports betting, casinos, and online gambling. (Monday)

Plenary preparation. Parliament's political groups will prepare for the plenary sessions in Strasbourg, where there will be votes on the 2013 EU Budget, a resolution on a genuine economic and monetary union, the capital requirements directive (CRD IV), a resolution on the November budget summit, the climate change summit in Doha, fisheries, including on shark fins, and the announcement of this year's winner of Parliament's Lux Prize for cinema.
