What's happening in the European Parliament: 7–13 July 2014

Political group meetings will be taking place in Brussels in preparation for the 14-17 July plenary session in Strasbourg and the election of the new President of the European Commission.   The constitutive meetings of Parliament's committees are also taking place.

Political groups will meet with the candidate Commission President. Political groups will prepare for the 14-17 July plenary session in Strasbourg, in particular for the election of the new President of the European Commission. Groups will meet Commission President-designate Jean-Claude Juncker on Tuesday and Wednesday. The vote is scheduled for 15 July and will be preceded by a statement by Mr Juncker, followed by a debate.

Committees' constitutive meetings. The new Parliament’s twenty standing committees and two sub-committees will hold their first, constitutive, meetings. Each committee and sub-committee will elect its chair and up to four vice-chairs. (Monday)

The President's agenda. President Schulz will meet Jiří Čistecký, Special Envoy for Holocaust issues of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday in the EP in Brussels.
