Competition for schools in the North-West Constituency

Jim Higgins, MEP for Ireland North West has today launched a poster competition for all national school students in the Ireland North West constituency.

The theme of the competition is "THE EU AND YOU."  The deadline for entries is the 5th of April.  "I'm really excited about involving the children of the North West in the European project and I hope that this poster competition will encourage children to ask questions about the EU."

One winner will be selected for each of the 11 counties and then displayed in the European Parliament, Brussels, as part of an exhibition of children's book illustrations by 'Children's Books Ireland', under the auspices of 'Laureate na nÓg'. "As this exhibition is focused on children's literature, I feel that this is a good way, not only to encourage children to get creative but also to engage with the concept of the EU and reading."

"I've already written or called all national schools in the North West, so I hope to start receiving entries shortly!"
All entries should be posted to Jim Higgins, Cloonturk, Kilkelly, Co. Mayo by the 5th of April and MEP Higgins would like to wish all of the children in Ireland North West the very best of luck with their posters.
