Euroscola 2013 Archive

On the 23rd May 24 students travelled to Strasbourg, accompanied by 3 teachers. The European Studies class won this subsidised trip to participate in Euroscola, a youth parliament for 16-18 year old students. This trip was funded by the European Parliament Office in Ireland after a group of students won the competition to design a webpage for their schools website entitled ‘My European School’.

The day began with a continental breakfast, dressed in our finest business attire, in our hotel in the centre of Strasbourg at 7.30 am. We then hopped on our coach and travelled to the Parliament where we had the opportunity to take several photographs outside and inside the amazing building. Once we had gone through security we were offered breakfast, continental style again. My they do love their croissants.

This year’s winners of the Graduate competition www.graduate.ie travelled to Strasbourg to participate in Euroscola on 21st March. They also visited the European Parliament in Brussels as part of their prize and met Pat the Cope Gallagher, MEP, there. Click below to read more.

On the 12th of October 2012, the transition year European Studies class in Mercy Mounthawk took part in the Euroscola European Studies table quiz in Killarney. We put so much hard work into preparing for the quiz and thankfully, it paid off. We came in first place and our prize was a trip to the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
