Member of Strasbourg Municipal Council (since 1983). Mayor of Strasbourg and chair of the Strasbourg Urban Community Council (1989-1997 and 2000-2001). Vice chair of the Strasbourg Urban Community Council (since 2008).
Member of the National Assembly for Bas-Rhin (1986-1988). Reelected to National Assembly without taking her seat (1997).
