Single Digital Gateway (A8-0054/2018 - Marlene Mizzi)

13-09-2018

The Single Digital Gateway is a great proposal which would help to develop a so called `one stop shop` on-line for all the principal EU`s administrative procedures. If all the basic administrative procedures would be simplified and available on-line, it would help citizens and businesses to handle paperwork on-line much faster. This would really make people`s life simpler.

Europe on the Move: an agenda for the future of mobility in the EU (A8-0241/2018 - István Ujhelyi)

13-09-2018

EU`s mobility sector is overcoming drastic changes with popularisation of electric vehicles and technology. This proposal aims at introducing Europe on the Move agenda which would essentially prepare citizens and business for a transition towards enviromentaly friendly and competitive mobility. A broad strategy needs to be applied in order to enable all the users of mobility sector to benefit from the changes as well as to facilitate a necessary environment and skills.

Autonomous weapon systems (RC-B8-0308/2018, B8-0308/2018, B8-0309/2018, B8-0355/2018, B8-0359/2018, B8-0360/2018, B8-0361/2018, B8-0362/2018)

12-09-2018

I voted in favour of this resolution. Uncontrolled weapons, without any human control cannot be produced or circulated and should be completely banned. They can really become a so-called `killer robots` deciding on life and death matters which might pose risk to society without any legal accountability. I supported the reports call for EU to start international negotiations aimed at banning these autonomous weapons system worldwide.

Mobilisation of the European Union Solidarity Fund to provide assistance to Bulgaria, Greece, Lithuania and Poland (A8-0272/2018 - Janusz Lewandowski)

11-09-2018

I have supported this proposal, because these countries had suffered the natural disasters in 2017 summer, which had the vast negative implications for these countries living conditions, infrastructure and natural environment. In order to sustain these regions prosperity, we should provide so necessary financial aid. The European Union Solidarity Fund will provide €16,918,941 for Lithuania, €12,279,244 for Poland, €2,258,225 for Bulgaria and Greece will obtain €2,535,796. These regions deserved our support and assistance, which will be a significant factor to reconstruct them and to raise their economy.

Draft Amending Budget No 4/2018: mobilisation of the European Union Solidarity Fund to provide assistance to Bulgaria, Greece, Lithuania and Poland (A8-0273/2018 - Siegfried Mureşan)

11-09-2018

I have supported this necessary amendment in order to provide so neededed aid support for Bulgaria, Greece Lithuania and Poland after their experienced natural disasters in summer of 2017.

The impact of EU cohesion policy on Northern Ireland (A8-0240/2018 - Derek Vaughan)

11-09-2018

I am very supportive to the European Parliament`s decision to secure post-Brexit regional funding to Northern Ireland which remains one of the poorest regions in North Western Europe. The cohesion funds in Northern Ireland contribute to economic and social development in the context of the Peace Process. PEACE and Interreg fund are crucial for the country`s peaceful future`s development.

Boosting growth and cohesion in EU border regions (A8-0266/2018 - Krzysztof Hetman)

11-09-2018

This is a very important proposal and analysis of what is needed in order to boost EU border regions, which together combined make around 40 percent of EU territory. I am pleased that the Commission is ready to propose legal and funding solutions to eliminate cross-border obstacles and ensure better cooperation among authorities. Border regions need to have sufficient access to public services and transport network in order to be able to accelerate their development.

Copyright in the Digital Single Market (A8-0245/2018 - Axel Voss)

05-07-2018

The World Wide Web is rapidly changing around us and legislators must take up the responsibility to regulate and protect creators and consumers of online content. Creators of content on the internet deserve adequate protections for their original ideas and art they upload and this proposal aimed to provide such protection. However, this report and the surrounding debate showed how divided both the public and the private sectors are on this issue, and the citizens deserve a proposal that is structurally sound and free of unintended consequences for consumers. I voted against this report asking Parliament to move the proposal to trilogues and instead now this proposal can and will be amended before the September session where a wider debate with all MEPs will take place. I believe strongly that any controversial proposal deserves a democratic and open discussion so that citizens and lawmakers can be sure that we as members of Parliament are enacting wholly beneficial legislation.

European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) (A8-0322/2017 - Kinga Gál)

05-07-2018

The Schengen zone sees 400 million crossings each year of EU citizens and 200 million crossings of non-EU citizens. While the EU’s visa-free policy allows around 1.4 billion people in 60 countries worldwide to travel easily into the Union, there is a missing layer of information to track third party nationals who enter from one of the aforementioned 60 countries. As a result, the Commission proposed the creation of the ETIAS that will identify any risks associated with any visa-free traveller to the Schengen zone. I voted in favour of this report on the proposal because we need to maintain the EU’s reputation of being a tourist destination while taking measures to ensure the safety of all other tourists and citizens living and working in the EU. Similar systems are already in place in the USA, Australia and others and are a common sight. I believe the ETIAS necessary to strengthen border management and enhance internal security.

The migration crisis and humanitarian situation in Venezuela and at its borders (RC-B8-0315/2018, B8-0315/2018, B8-0316/2018, B8-0317/2018, B8-0318/2018, B8-0319/2018, B8-0320/2018, B8-0321/2018)

05-07-2018

The human rights situation in Venezuela has deteriorated since 2014 and has seen inflation rise to, by the end of 2018, over 13 000%. The Venezuelan Government has refused to acknowledge its country’s plight on the international stage and, in many cases, the government is directly responsible for the crimes occurring in the country. Parliament recently completed an ad hoc mission to Venezuela to assess the situation on the ground and was deeply shocked and alarmed. I voted in favour of this motion for a resolution on the migration crisis and humanitarian situation in Venezuela because the influx of refugees to border countries like Colombia constitutes a crisis and because the Venezuelan Government must be held accountable for its crimes against humanity. The people of Venezuela are calling out for help and the international community must be alerted to their situation.
