Other activities 

  • 1972-1987 : Javelin thrower. She participated in the Montreal and Moscow Olympics. She broke the Greek record for the javelin 17 times and has several times been Balkan and Mediterranean Games champion. In 1982 she took third place in the European Athletics Championship and in the same year broke the world record in Chania with a throw of 74.20 metres.
  • 1999 : Participates in the ‘Stop the War’ initiative, visits Yugoslavia with the AEK mission during the war.
  • 2004 : Peace Initiative, participates in the Palestinian Olympic team for the Athens Olympics and competes in sports events under the Palestinian flag.
  • 11/2008 : Participates as an international - independent observer of the local elections in Venezuela.
  • 2009 : Participates in the ‘Ship to Gaza’ initiative and visits Gaza during the shelling and later.
  • 22/12/2010 : In her speech during the 2011 budget debate in Parliament, she proposes the creation of an Audit Commission.
  • 06/05/2011 : An initiative is being put in place to establish the Audit Commission and an international conference is being organised on ‘Debt and Austerity: from the Global South to Europe ‘6-8 / 5/2011.
  • 08/05/2011 : The ‘Athens Declaration on Debt and Austerity for Joint Action and Solidarity’ is signed by Greek and international personalities. In support of this initiative, she participates as speaker at conferences in Latin American and European countries and writes articles in the Greek and international press.
  • 03/2015-10/2015 : Member of the Hellenic Parliament's Debt Truth Committee and is responsible for communicating the Committee’s work to the European Parliament, national parliaments and the peoples of Europe.


  • In 2004, President Yasser Arafat conferred on her honorary Palestinian citizenship.
