  • Why “a wave of separatism”? Why now? Why in Europe? Cui prodest? Let’s go, for 60 seconds, back in history – because this is the place where we have to look if want to learn, to identify mistakes and find ways not to repeat them. First, coincidence or not, the one who famously said: “Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” George Santayana, was born in Spain… Europe, as we know it from history, was a territory dominated by war and conflicts. For thousands of years! Everyone agrees: starting with 1945, Europe’s enjoys its longest period of peace ever! This is not because a piece of Europe wanted to stray away, but because, for the first time, we decided to work together, united. The only wrong step – the 90’s war in the former Yugoslavia – was caused also by the violent separation of several territories, not for other reason.

  • In cateva minute incepe al doilea panel al "Threats of Separatism to International Peace and Security", o foarte interesanta dezbatere la nivel inalt despre motivele separatismului in Europa, consecintele sale, si riscurile la nivel politic si economic pentru constructia Europeana. Separatismul este intr-adevar o vulnerabilitate serioasa in Uniunea Europeana, una de care profita mai ales cei care ne doresc dezbinati si slabi.
