Přestože nebyla podle poslanců nová fiskální dohoda k vyvedení Evropy z krize nezbytná, ocenil Parlament, že její konečné znění obsahuje mnoho z jeho návrhů. Výsledná dohoda musí být v souladu s balíčkem šesti právních norem v oblasti hospodářské správy, tzv."six-packem", a musí být podpořena okamžitými opatřeními na řešení krátkodobých problémů eurozóny, uvádí se v usnesení, které poslanci přijali ve čtvrtek.

Today's election of Martin Schulz (S&D, DE) as President of the European Parliament resulted in the final change to the composition of the Conference of Presidents, the body that brings together Parliament's president and political group leaders. Hannes Swoboda (S&D, AT) replaces Mr Schulz as chair of the Socialists and Democrats Group today, following the election or re-election of the other group leaders.
