Mission to the 60th session of the Commission on the Status of Women

14-17 March 2016 - CSW 60 - United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA

Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality

The sixtieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will take place from 14-24 March 2016. A delegation of MEPs, led by Committee Chair Iratxe GARCÍA PÉREZ

(S&D, ES), will participate in this session from 14-17 March. The Commission will address as its priority theme "Women's empowerment and its link to sustainable development."  The review theme will address the elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls (agreed conclusions from the fifty-seventh session).

The nine day session will include a ministerial segment with round tables and other high level interactive dialogues, a general discussion and panel discussions. Stakeholders will organise many side events to draw attention to critical aspects of the work on gender equality. These side events, or activities organised outside the formal programme of the session, provides an excellent opportunity for Member States, UN entities and NGOs to discuss themes of the Commission and other critical gender equality issues.

        MEPs participating include the following:
