Parliament is set to approve aid worth €3.7 million from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund in a vote on Tuesday to help workers in Italy who lost their jobs as a result of globalisation or the economic crisis. The money will fund measures to help them re-enter the labour market. Some 1,500 workers were laid off by the high-end automobile maker De Tomaso Automobili S.p.A. and by two computing firms in Lombardy. Parliament's decision will then need to be endorsed by Council.
Vote: Tuesday 8 October
