A conference titled “Shaping our digital future: the challenge of the digital revolution” takes place in the European Parliament in Brussels on 25 April. Join the conversation!
Completing the EU's digital single market could contribute €415 billion a year to Europe's economy and create new jobs. However, while new technologies create opportunities for businesses and innovation, the digital divide inside the EU can prevent some member states of harnessing the full benefits.
The challenge for the EU is to foster innovation and develop the data economy, while at the same time maintain the trust of people who regularly use the internet for finding information (80%) and reading online news (70%).
These and other topics will be discussed by experts, legislators, stakeholders and decision makers on 25 April during a high-level conference organised by the Parliament and the European Commission and taking place in Parliament buildings in Brussels.
The panels will focus on:
- Investing in connectivity and the data economy infrastructure (5G, High Performance Computing, Artificial Intelligence) and avoiding a digital divide
- Innovation in the digital age based on better access, use and re-use of data
- Advantages, challenges and opportunities for people using digital services and how to best maintain their trust
- A digital single market for European businesses to operate across the EU in a fair environment without barriers
Conference starts at 14.30 CET. The doors will be open from 13.00 CET.
