It is one of Europe's most prestigious film prizes and a chance for the winner to gain more exposure. The European Parliament awards the LUX Prize each year to help promote European cinema and stimulate debate about European values and social issues. The contenders for this year's prize have now been revealed at the 48th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. Read on to discover which films have a chance to win the prize. The nominations were revealed by EP vice-president Oldřich Vlasák, a Czech member of the ECR group, MEP Silvia Costa, an Italian member of the S&D group, as well as two members of the LUX Prize selection panel: Jakub Duszynski, co-president of Europa Distribution, and Karlovy Festival artistic director Karel Och.
