Find out how the current political crisis in Ukraine came to be with the help of our interactive timeline

Nearly two years after the Euromaidan mass protests resulted in removing President Viktor Yanukovych from power, unrest continues in parts of eastern Ukraine. An association agreement was ratified in 2014 and the EU-Ukraine free trade area entered into force on 1 January 2016, marking a milestone in relations between the two. Our timeline tracks the main events of the past two years, from the annexation of Crimea to the Minsk II peace agreement.
