Michael GAHLER (EPP, DE) will lead a 7-strong MEP delegation which will observe the first round of the presidential elections in Tunisia scheduled for 23 November 2014. The other members of the delegation, which will travel to Tunisia from 21 to 25 November, are Santiago FISAS AYXELÀ (EPP, ES), Francisco Assis (S&D, PT), Marie-Christine VERGIAT (GUE/NGL, FR), Jordi SEBASTIÀ (Greens/EFA, ES), Fabio Massimo CASTALDO (EFDD, IT), Jean-Francois JALKH (NI, FR).
The European Parliament’s delegation will be deployed as part of the EU Election Observation Mission to Tunisia headed by the Chief Observer MEP Annemia Neyts-Uytterbroek (ALDE, BE). Preliminary conclusions will be presented in a press conference held jointly by the Chief Observer and the chair of the EP delegation on 25 November in Tunis.
