Official visit to Tunisia
Riyad, Saudi Arabia and Doha, Qatar
8-10 February 2016
Elmar BROK (EPP, DE) will chair the EP delegation visiting Riyad, Saudi Arabia and Doha, Qatar. He will be joined by Andrej PLENKOVIĆ (EPP, HR), Arnaud DANJEAN (EPP, FR), Tokia SAÏFI (EPP, FR), Afzal KHAN (S&D, UK), Pier Antonio PANZERI (S&D, IT), Mark DEMESMAEKER (ECR, BE) and Jozo RADOŠ (ALDE, HR).
During the first part of the visit on 8-9 February, MEPs will meet in Riyad with high representatives of the Saudi Arabian authorities and with their counterparts of the Shura Council, the Constitutive Assembly of Saudi Arabia. They will discuss EU-Saudi Arabian relations, the political, economic and security situation in the Kingdom as well as the situation in neighbouring Arab states and Saudi Arabia's role in the region.
The second part of the visit, on 9-10 February, will take place in Doha, Qatar where members of the AFET delegation will meet with the leadership representatives of the Qatar's monarchy as well as with the speaker of the Majlis as-Shura, the Consultative Assembly of Qatar to discuss EU-Qatari relations and the situation in the region.
A delegation of the Security and Defence Sub-committee of the European Parliament, led by its chair Ms. Anna Fotyga (ECR, PL), will visit the EU naval operation against human smugglers in the Mediterranean ("Operation Sofia") in Rome on 8-10 February 2016. MEPs will meet EUNAVFOR Sofia leadership as well as Italian ministers and Members of Parliament to discuss the challenges EU is facing in Southern Mediterranean and to see what role EU tools, in particular CSDP missions and operations, can play in tackling the problem of irregular migration.
The Netherlands/the Hague and Utrecht
8-9 February 2016
MEPs from the Legal Affairs Committee will visit the International Court of Justice, Eurojust, Permanent Court of Arbitration, Academie voor wetgeving and Permanent Bureau of the Hague Conference on Private International Law, in the Hague and Utrecht on 8-9 February. Purpose of the visit is to discuss better law-making, private international law, international arbitration and judicial cooperation in the EU. They will also have a meeting with Dutch Minister for Security and Justice Ard van der Steur, as well as experts on gender equality law. Heidi HAUTALA (Greens/EFA, FI), will head the delegation. She will be joined by Julia REDA (Greens/EFA, DE) and Joëlle BERGERON (EFDD, FR).
Fact finding visit to Spain
8-10 February 2016
The Committee on Petitions is organising a Fact-finding visit to Spain on 8-10 February 2016. The purpose of the visit is to meet with Spanish authorities and civil society to exchange views on the petitions related to the possible infringement on a number of environmental directives through proposed local hydrological river basin management plans. The geographical areas concerned are the Ebro and Tajo rivers.

A delegation of the European Parliament Transport and Tourism committee will visit Finland to discuss issues in rail and air transport, road safety, use of alternative fuels and tourism with officials from the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Finland, members of parliament, transport operators, transport safety officials, and researchers in the field of transport and tourism. An eleven-member delegation of the Committee on Budgets, presided by Chair Jean ARTHUIS (ALDE, FR), will travel to Turkey from 8 to 10 February with the double aim of assessing recent EU support measures for refugees from Syria and Iraq in Turkey and discussing the use of European Pre-Accession funds with the Turkish authorities.

A delegation of 4 MEPs will visit Guinea-Bissau. MEPs will meet among others with the Prime Minister and the State Secretaries for Fisheries and Transport. MEPs will also make on the spot visits to the Port of Bissau, and the fisheries harbour of Alto Bandim where it will hold meetings with sector representatives.
Between 10 and 12 February, a delegation of eight MEPs: Paul RÜBIG (EPP, AT), Maria SPYRAKI (EPP, EL), Theodor Dumitru STOLOJAN (EPP, RO), Jeppe KOFOD (S&D,DK), Flavio ZANONATO (S&D, IT), Carlos ZORRINHO (S&D, PT), Morten Helveg PETERSEN (ALDE, DK), Nicolay BAREKOV (ECR,BG) will visit the Agency for Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and Jozef Stefan Institute (Reactor Centre) in Ljubljana, Slovenia. They will discuss with the ACER representatives, inter alia, the main challenges in completing the internal energy market and will have a live demonstration of the gas network codes functionality platform. During the visit at the Reactor Centre, the delegation will participate in a presentation on several research topics related to nuclear energy.
