INTA delegation to Australia and New Zealand
30 October - 2 November
A delegation of the International Trade Committee, led by Committee Chair Bernd Lange (S&D, DE) visits Australia and New Zealand next week to have a better understanding of potential sticking points that are likely to impact negotiations starting this year. MEPs are to meet members of national parliaments and EU companies along with representatives of local businesses, trade unions, the civil society, and indigenous communities.

EMPL delegation to Sofia
The Committee for Employment and Social Affairs will send a delegation to Sofia from 30 October to 1 November to look at the employment and social situation in the country. The delegation will meet relevant stakeholders, government agencies, social partners as well as members of the Committee on Labour of the Bulgarian Parliament. The functioning of the European Social Fund and of the Youth Employment Initiative will also be examined.

PECH Mission to Guadeloupe
Members of the Committee on Fisheries will attend the official launch of the European project ORFISH (project of several EU Outermost Regions (ORs) partners consortium, leaded by Guadalupe region, for sustainable fishing knowledge and practice exchange). They will visit aquaculture facilities and fishing ports and they will hold meetings with the local fishermen and representatives from the regional authorities.

REGI Delegation to Sofia, Bulgaria
Members of the Committee on Regional Development will meet with the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria to discuss inter alia the Bulgarian presidency priorities in respect of regional policy, the future of EU finances and the post-2020 cohesion policy. They will also meet with the Mayor and Deputy Mayors of Sofia to discuss the urban development of the city and the best examples from completed projects. They will visit several projects in Sofia and also hold meetings with ministers and representatives from the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria and the managing authorities of the operational programmes.

Women's Rights mission to Portugal
30-31 October
Funchal (Madeira) and Lisbon (Portugal)
A delegation of MEPs from the Women's Rights and Gender Equality Committee, led by Committee Chair Vilija BLINKEVIČIŪTĖ (S&D, LT), will visit Funchal (capital of the Autonomous Region of Madeira) on 30 October and Lisbon on 31 October. The purpose of the visit is to observe the women's socio-economic situation and how it has been impacted by the economic crisis. How to combat prostitution and the government measures in place is another topic MEPs wish to explore.
MEPs will meet with civil society organisations working on women's rights and dedicated to the promotion and protection of workers, especially those in female dominated sectors such as tourism and hospitality.
