With a new Chair, will the EPP be steered on a new course?

On the post of the Commission President, Weber expresses his clear support for Jean-Claude Juncker, the Spitzenkandidat of the EPP in the European elections. "In the European Parliament it is clear that he will be our candidate. We support Juncker and expect the Council to propose Juncker as next Commission President", Weber said speaking to EuroparlTV.

Manfred Weber was first elected to the European Parliament in 2004. Between 2006 and 2009 he coordinated the EPP group's activities in the EP's Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee. In 2009, he was elected vice-chairman of the EPP group.

The EPP has been the first political group to constitute itself following the recent European elections.
