GAA receives the European Citizen's Prize 2013 from the European Parliament

The Gaelic Athletic Association / Cumann Lúthchleas Gael which was nominated for the European Citizen's Prize 2013 by Sean KELLY MEP, is among the 43 winners of the European Citizen's Prize 2013 of the European Parliament. Since 2008, the prize has been awarded to citizens or organisations having contributed to promoting better mutual understanding and closer integration between citizens or to facilitating cross-border or transnational cooperation within the EU. The Gaelic Athletic Association / Cumann Lúthchleas Gael was nominated for the European Citizen's Prize 2013 by Sean KELLY MEP. A national jury, made up of Phil PRENDERGAST MEP, Marian HARKIN MEP and Gay MITCHELL MEP endorsed the nomination. Since 2008, the prize has been awarded to citizens or organisations having contributed to promoting better mutual understanding and closer integration between citizens or to facilitating cross-border or transnational cooperation within the EU. "Europe on the Ground" wins 2012 European Charlemagne Youth Prize

Europe on the Ground, a Greek youth media project, was awarded first prize at the 2012 Charlemagne Youth Prize ceremony on 15 May in Aachen. Second prize went to Europe Meets School, an exchange programme for Erasmus students (Czech Republic) and the winner of the third prize was the Cycle Me Home project, a documentary road-movie (Hungary). The Charlemagne Youth Prize is awarded annually to projects that foster a shared sense of European identity and integration among young people. Charlemagne Youth Prize 2012: deadline for submission extended

The deadline for candidates to come forward for the 2012 Charlemagne Prize has been extended to 13 February 2012, giving more youngsters a chance to come forward for the fifth edition of the prize. (Read more: Charlemagne Youth Prize 2012: deadline for submission extended )

 

National Angle on President Buzek's visit to Ireland

President Buzek made an official visit to Ireland on 11 and 12 July 2011, meeting with top Irish Government leaders, visiting both Houses of the Irish Parliament, addressing members of the Polish Community in Ireland, and also with cross-border groups receiving EU funding in the course of a visit to the site of the historic Battle of the Boyne. Europe & Me" wins European Charlemagne Youth Prize 2011

"Europe & Me", a UK online lifestyle magazine for young Europeans, won first prize at the Charlemagne Youth Prize 2011 on 31 May in Aachen. (Read more: Europe & Me" wins European Charlemagne Youth Prize 2011 )

 

Two Irish journalists have been selected as the Irish nominees for this year's European Parliament Journalism Prize. 355 journalists submitted applications across the EU's 27 Member States and in October of this year, the prize, now in its fourth year, will be awarded to four journalists in the categories of print journalism, radio, TV and internet. UK nominations for the EP prize for journalism 2011

The UK nominations for the EP Prize for Journalism have been selected and will now compete for the €5,000 prizes against entries from other EU Member States. The radio category winner was Chris Bowlby, for a piece broadcast on BBC Radio 4, while the written press category winner was Ewan Pate for a piece written for the Scottish regional paper The Courier. British nominee announced for European Youth Prize

Europe & Me, an online lifestyle magazine created by young Europeans for young Europeans has been chosen as the UK entry for this year's Charlemagne European Youth Prize.
