Opening: minute’s silence for Miloslav Ransdorf

The session opened with a minute’s silence for the late Miloslav Ransdorf, who died on 22 January, aged 62.

An MEP since 2003, Mr Ransdorf (EUL/NGL, CZ), had served inter alia as vice-chair of the Industry, Research and Energy Committee, and as a member of the Euronest and EU-Ukraine delegations, noted Mr Schulz, voicing Parliament’s deep regret at the loss.

Mr Ransdorf was a Doctor of Philosophy and the author of several books, for example on the history of the reformation and on Karl Marx, he added.
