“The proposals of the European Commission for road transport are highly expected by a sector that is key to the European economy. The European Parliament recently voted a resolution tabled by the Committee for Transport and Tourism, to call the Commission to take into account its main concerns regarding road transport,” said Karima Delli (Greens/EFA, FR), Chair of the Transport and Tourism Committee.

“Among those, the need for innovation and a regulatory framework is crucial to foster fair competition and help road transport in the creation of jobs, while respecting the environmental and social commitments of the EU.  Better enforcement and the streamlining of legislation are key, while avoiding further fragmentation of the Single Market.

“The Committee for Transport and Tourism of the EP therefore expects the European Commission to respect the line set by this resolution, and looks forward to working closely with Commissioners Šefčovič and Bulc on this matter,” she added.

On 18 May the European Parliament voted a resolution with recommendations for the Mobility Package. The resolution was tabled on behalf of the EP Transport and Tourism committee by the committee Chair Karima Delli (Greens/EFA, FR).

MEPs will present their initial reactions to the Mobility Package following the presentation by the Commission at the EP plenary this afternoon. You can follow the plenary session live via EP Live and EbS+.
