Future of EU farming policy: MEPs to debate their response to Commission’s ideas
Agriculture MEPs will debate on Monday from 19h30 ways to reform the post-2020 EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) following the EU Commission’s communication on the matter.
The debate will focus on the Parliament’s response to the Commission’s ideas on the future of food and farming in the EU. It will be kicked-off by the presentation of the draft report prepared by the Parliament’s rapporteur Herbert Dorfmann (EPP, IT), which, inter alia, emphasises that “integrity of the single market and a truly common policy must be the overriding priorities of [the CAP] reform” and wants “the CAP budget to be maintained in the next MFF at least the current level”.
