Statement by the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee Chair Roberto Gualtieri
"I welcome the ECB's proposal for the nomination of Andrea Enria as Chair of the Supervisory Board. All the candidates shortlisted by the ECB were highly qualified. I am sure that Mr Enria, whose outstanding international and European experience in financial regulation and supervision was highly appreciated by the ECON Committee, will ensure strong leadership of the SSM, independence and commitment to the European project and to the completion of the Banking Union. The ECON Committee will proceed swiftly to hearing Mr Enria and vote on his appointment."
