An EP delegation composed of 7 MEPs will participate in the Millenium Development Goals summit, which will bring together world leaders to commit to an action agenda to achieve the eight anti-poverty goals by their 2015 target date. MEPs will advocate "new, results-oriented, additional, transparent and measurable commitments" to eradicate poverty by mobilising more funding for development, especially as regards basic health and education.


The members of the delegation lead by Gay MITCHELL (EPP, IE) are: Birgit SCHNIEBER-JASTRAM (EPP, DE),  Eva ZANICHI (EPP, IT), Michael CASHMAN (S&D, UK), Corina CRETU (S&D, RO), Bill NEWTON DUNN (ALDE, UK) and Nirj DEVA (ECR, UK).
