MEPs and 100 national MPs will debate how to improve "European Semester" arrangements for EU-wide economic policy coordination, ahead of the 7-8 February EU summit which formally kicks off the process for this year. Somalia. MEPs on the Foreign Affairs and Development committees will debate developments in the Horn of Africa with Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. (Thursday)
Plenary preparations. Parliament's political groups will prepare for the plenary session in Strasbourg. The plenary agenda includes visits by French President François Hollande and Tunisian President Moncef Marzourki, votes on Common Fisheries Policy reform plans and debates and resolutions on the European Semester and preparations for the 7 - 8 February EU summit.
President's agenda. EP President Martin Schulz will take part in a European Parliamentary week panel on the European Semester on Wednesday. He will hold bilateral meetings with Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Northern Ireland's First Minister Peter Robinson, and Ike Ekweremadu, Speaker of the Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States (Wednedsay). On Thursday he will receive Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Asylum. The EP Press service will hold a seminar for journalists on the Asylum Package, with the participation of MEPs and stakeholders. (Wednesday)
Pre-session press briefing. The regular briefing by the EP Press Service and political group spokespeople will be held on Friday 1 February at 11 a.m. (Altiero Spinelli building, Room Raoul Wallenberg 5G2).
