In a much-publicised case, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani was accused of adultery and sentenced to be stoned to death, while Zahra Bahrami, a Dutch/Iranian woman, has been kept incommunicado since her arrest last December in the Ashura Day protests in Tehran.
Dutch MEPs have called on EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton to discuss these cases with the Iranian authorities. The EP will vote on a resolution on Thursday.
