      1. Budgetary Control Committee in Slovakia 

        A fact-finding mission of the Budgetary Control Committee will visit Slovakia on December 17-19 to inspect the use of EU funds in the country. It will follow up on a joint visit with Civil Liberties Committee, conducted in March in the wake of the murder of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak.

        Led by the Committee Chair Ingeborg GRÂSSLE (EPP, DE), the mission will visit the eastern part of the country to inquire about an alleged misuse of inter alia EU agricultural funds, an issue reported about by Mr Kuciak and later by other journalists too. To that end, MEPs will also meet local farmers. Accompanied by European Commission and Court of Auditors officials, MEPs will later travel to Bratislava, the capital, and meet government officials, NGO representatives and journalists.


      2. Delegation to Greece  

        A delegation of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee will go to Athens, Greece, from 17 to 19 December 2018 to discuss matters of priority in its area of competence with representatives of the Hellenic Parliament, the Piraeus Port, the EU Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA), the Single Public Procurement Independent Authority, the European Consumer Centre and the Hellenic Organization for Standardization.

      3. International Trade MEP delegation to Chile 

        Led by the Committee Chair, Bernd LANGE (S&D, DE), a delegation travels to Chile to see about bilateral trade relations and modernisation of the free trade agreement between EU and Chile.

        FEMM delegation to Italy 

        Rome and Naples

        17-19 December 2018

        A delegation of members from the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) will travel to Rome and Naples. The focus of this visit will be on conscientious objection to abortion and the trafficking of migrant women for prostitution in Italy. MEPs will meet in Rome with doctors and NGOs dealing with conscientious objection, as well as with the Italian Minister for Health, Giulia Gillo (tbc). The delegation will also travel to Naples to meet local elected representatives and NGOs dealing with trafficking of women. Furthermore, they will visit two shelters for women victims of trafficking and the Casa Internazionale delle Donne. A press conference will be held in the EP Office in Rome on Wednesday at 10.00.

        PETI delegation to Valledora, Italy 

        A delegation of MEPs from the Committee on Petitions will visit Valledora on a fact-finding mission. The purpose of the mission is to investigate concerns about several quarries and landfills located between the municipalities of Alice Castello and Cavaglià (Piedmont Region, Italy). The delegation will meet with local civil and religious authorities, and consult citizens as well as scientific and legal experts before conducting a site inspection in the area concerned.

        The delegation will enquire whether there are threats to surface and ground waters, which are claimed to have been caused by leakages from the landfills,and encourage citizens and authorities to act together to seek a solution and prevent irreversible damage to the water sources.
