Committee and political group meetings, Brussels

Security/France and Germany. German federal Minister of the Interior Thomas de Maizière and French Minister of the Interior Matthias Fekl will debate EU measures to improve the security situation in Europe as well as future challenges in the field with the Civil Liberties Committee. (Monday)


Multinationals/tax evasion. Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee will vote on measures to stop multinationals evading taxes by exploiting differences (“hybrid mismatches”) between tax systems in EU member states and third countries. (Monday)


EU long-term budget. A mid-term revision of EU's multi-annual financial framework (MFF) for 2014-2020, to bring it into line with new priorities, will be voted by the Budgets Committee. The aim is to reinforce EU support for tackling the migration crisis, strengthening security, boosting growth and creating jobs, and to increase budgetary flexibility to cope better with unprecedented crises. (Monday)


Plenary preparations. Political groups will prepare for the 3-6 April plenary session in Strasbourg, where they will vote on legislation to make medical devices safer, harmonize environmental and safety testing of new cars, grant visa-free travel in the EU to Ukrainians and limit how much telecoms operators charge each other for using networks with a view to abolishing “roaming” costs. The EP will also vote on the recommendations of the Committee of Inquiry into Emission Measurements in the Automotive Sector (EMIS) and a call to prevent palm oil-related deforestation.


President's agenda. EP President Antonio Tajani will meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on Monday. On Tuesday, he will meet London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Czech Republic’s Senate Speaker H.E. Milan Štěch.
