Proteger a los niños del contenido nocivo en internet es prioritario para el PE

Los niños pasan a diario varias horas en internet, expuestos a contenido que no siempre es adecuado, como por ejemplo los vídeos que incitan al odio y la violencia. El Parlamento Europeo quiere proteger mejor a los menores. Por este motivo, la comisión parlamentaria de Educación y Cultura respaldó hoy la revisión de la normativa que regula en la UE los servicios audiovisuales. New rules allowing the US National Security Agency (NSA) to share private data with other US agencies without court oversight, recent revelations about surveillance activities by a US electronic communications service provider and vacancies on US oversight bodies are among the concerns raised by MEPs in a resolution passed on Thursday. Security: committee debate with French and German ministers on Monday at 17.00

German federal Minister of the Interior Thomas de Maizière and French Minister of the Interior Matthias Fekl will debate EU measures to improve the security situation in Europe and future challenges in the field with the Civil Liberties Committee on Monday from 17.00 to 19.00. Plans to adapt more books for blind people backed by Legal Affairs Committee

New draft rules to make more books available in formats designed for blind and visually impaired people were approved by the Legal Affairs Committee on Thursday. The draft legislation, which brings EU law into line with the Marrakesh Treaty, provides for copyright exceptions for formats such as audiobooks and Braille. MEPs commemorate Brussels terror attack victims, stress need to step up security

MEPs examined progress made in fighting terrorism since the 22 March 2016 attacks in Brussels in Wednesday afternoon’s “topical debate”. They stressed the need to do more to ensure swift and efficient information sharing among member states and improve the interoperability of EU databases, as well as to prevent radicalization and help victims of terrorism. EU security policy debate one year after Brussels terrorist attacks, 15.00 today

MEPs will debate progress on the European security agenda since the 22 March 2016 terrorist attacks in Brussels with EU Commissioners Dimitris Avramopoulos and Sir Julian King, and Maltese Parliamentary Secretary Ian Borg for the Council Presidency, on Wednesday at 15.00. Enhancing information sharing, combatting terrorism financing, preventing radicalisation and strengthening controls at the EU’s external borders are key priorities. Nuevas reglas para reforzar los derechos de los accionistas en empresas de la UE

Los accionistas deberán ser consultados sobre la política de remuneraciones de los directivos de las grandes empresas, según la directiva que el Parlamento aprobó el martes. El objetivo de esta medida es contribuir a que las compañías cotizadas se centren en los resultados y la sostenibilidad a largo plazo y no en el beneficio a corto plazo. Citizens should get access to data on firm owners to fight money laundering

EU citizens could access registers of beneficial owners of companies without having to demonstrate a “legitimate interest,” and trusts would have to meet the same transparency requirements as firms, under amendments, agreed by MEPs on Tuesday, to the EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive.
