En una resolución aprobada hoy, los diputados subrayan, no obstante, que esta medida no puede reemplazar la "necesaria solución global" a la amenaza de la piratería. Por otra parte, el PE defiende la creación de tribunales especializados para luchar contra la los ataques en alta mar y pide medidas urgentes para liberar a los 191 marinos que permanecen secuestrados.

En un informe aprobado hoy por la Eurocámara, los diputados subrayan que los viajeros que se queden en tierra por la quiebra de una aerolínea tienen derecho a ser repatriados sin coste alguno. Mr Kallas expressed regret that he had not informed the committee before the news spread that the Commission was lifting the ban on cross-border usage of longer and heavier trucks. "I did not realize that the issue was that sensitive", he argued, since "No Member State will have to accept longer trucks on its territory if it does not wish to".

Parliament's Transport Committee voiced deep concern on Tuesday over the threat of retaliation actions against European airlines if the EU continues implementing the new carbon trading scheme for flights departing and arriving in the EU. While some MEPs recommended abolishing the scheme, others feared a total loss of credibility if the EU gave in to threats from third countries. Later, In an Environment Committee debate on Thursday, most MEPs urged the Commission to stand by the scheme.
