TTIP: MEPs pave way for plenary vote by retabling June amendments

International Trade Committee MEPs on Monday paved the way for a plenary vote on the European Parliament’s draft recommendations for Transatlantic Trade and investment partnership (TTIP) negotiators, by retabling the June plenary amendments which had been referred back for reconsideration. The committee took the decision in two separate votes –one to retable the plenary amendments, and the other to retable requests for split or separate votes. Extraordinary meeting of the Conference of Presidents to discuss the latest developments concerning Greece with Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker  

Today the European Parliament's Conference of Presidents (EP President and political group leaders) discussed the latest situation on Greece with Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. The Conference of Presidents then discussed the situation further and adopted a position on the immediate next step that should be taken. Transport Committee MEPs will discuss aviation safety with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Executive Director Patrick Ky and the European Commission on Monday afternoon, after the Germanwings air crash in the French Alps in March. The European Commission’s weak response to the first EU citizens’ initiative (ECI) petition, on the “Right2Water”, could discredit the ECI system, warn Environment Committee MEPs in a resolution voted on Wednesday. It “lacks any real ambition and failed to meet the demands of the organizers”, they add. ECIs enable citizens to ask the Commission to propose laws in areas within its competence, if they can muster at least one million signatures from at least a quarter of EU member states. Negotiations on proposals to revise the Interinstitutional Agreement on Better Regulation kicked off on Thursday with a meeting in the European Parliament between EP President Martin Schulz, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, Latvia’s Prime Minister, Laimdota Straujuma, representing the current Council Presidency and Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel for the incoming Council Presidency. MEPs close deal with Council on seal products

Trading in seal products from hunts hitherto conducted to protect fishing stocks will be banned in the EU in future but the exemption for the trade in products derived from seal hunts carried out by the Inuit community will remain, under the preliminary deal struck by internal market MEPs and the Latvian Presidency of the Council on Thursday. Draft plans to encourage food innovation via a new, simplified authorisation procedure for novel foods, already informally agreed with the Council of Ministers, were endorsed by the Environment Committee on Thursday. In talks, MEPs insisted that foods from cloned animals must be clearly included in the scope of the regulation, as must the precautionary principle, measures to keep nanomaterials under scrutiny and animal testing restrictions. Corporate tax: MEPs urge Commission to work faster and propose laws

The European Commission's corporate tax action plan, tabled on 7 June was debated with Commissioner Pierre Moscovici in plenary session on Wednesday evening. Rather than a plan, MEPs asked the Commission to accelerate its work on this pressing issue so as to deliver concrete legislative proposals. EP tables recommendations for Eurozone governance

The text is Parliament's input to the discussions on the future of the economic governance framework, including Thursday's European summit debate on the so-called five presidents' report on completing the EU's economic and monetary union. Evropský parlament dnes schválil konečné znění pravidel fungování Evropského fondu pro strategické investice (EFSI), který je základním pilířem v listopadu předloženého investičního plánu Komise v hodnotě 315 miliard eur. Poslancům se v průběhu jednání s členskými státy podařilo upravit strukturu financování fondu, posílit demokratickou kontrolu jeho působení a zajistit si účast na rozhodování o jeho vedení.
