Vodje političnih skupin ter predsednik Komisije Jose Manuel Barroso in Dimitris Kourkoulas, namestnik grškega zunanjega ministra, se bodo v sredo dopoldne spomnili 1. svetovne vojne - posledic, ki jih je pustila v Evropi in lekcij za prihodnost stare celine. Ljudje, ki živijo v bližini letališč, lahko zaradi letalskega hrupa zbolijo. Ker letalski hrup pomeni tveganje za javne zdravje, letališča in oblasti v Evropski uniji sprejemajo različne ukrepe za njegovo omejevanje. Odbor Parlamenta za promet pa je 10. aprila glasoval o zakonodaji, ki bo ohranila pristojnosti lokalnih skupnosti v zvezi z zmanjševanjem hrupa iz letališč. MEPs push for mandatory "made-in" labelling to tighten up product safety rules

"Made-in" labelling should be made mandatory for non-food products sold on the single market, Parliament said in Tuesday’s vote on plans to tighten up product safety requirements and market surveillance rules so as to strengthen consumer protection in the EU. Parliament also wants tougher penalties for firms selling non-compliant or potentially dangerous products. MEPs vote laws to regulate financial markets and curb high-frequency trading

Comprehensive rules to govern financial markets were adopted by Parliament on Tuesday. These rules are designed to close loopholes in the existing legislation, so as to ensure that financial markets are safer as well as more efficient, investors are better protected, high-frequency trading is regulated and speculative commodity trading is curbed. EU workers to enjoy fully portable pension rights when moving abroad

EU workers moving to a different EU country will be able to take their full pension rights with them thanks to a draft law passed by Parliament on Tuesday. Vsakdo, ki zakonito prebivajo v EU, bo imel v skladu z zakonodajo, ki so jo v torek sprejeli evropski poslanci, pravico do odprtja osnovnega plačilnega računa, ne glede na podlagi državljanstva ali kraj stalnega prebivališča. Zakon tudi zagotavlja preglednost in primerljivost pristojbin ter pravil za vse plačilne račune, hkrati pa omogoča enostavno zamenjavo računa k ponudniku z boljšimi pogoji. Parlament davkoplačevalce razbremenil stroškov reševanja bank

V torek so evropski poslanci potrdili tri ukrepe, ki naj bi zagotovili, da bodo same prevzele tveganje za neuspeh in ga ne prenašale na davkoplačevalce. Dva sta namenjena postopkom za prestrukturiranje in likvidacijo bank v težavah, tretji pa predvideva, da banke jamčijo za vloge do 100 tisoč evrov. Measures to encourage lobbyists working with the EU institutions to sign the EU’s public Transparency Register were backed by Parliament on Tuesday. MEPs also called again for the register to be made compulsory and approved new provisions to push interest groups to make their links with the EU clearer. Small investors to be shielded against reckless risk taking by investment funds

Small investors will be better protected against investment funds that take excessive or unnecessary risks with their money, under rules approved by Parliament on Tuesday. These rules clarify who is liable for mismanagement of funds and tailor fund managers' remuneration rules to encourage them to take reasonable risks and a long-run view.
