Dal commercio alla Nato, per decenni il rapporto tra l'UE e la Turchia è stato molto produttivo. Tuttavia, recentemente le relazioni si sono raffreddate a seguito di diversi episodi antidemocratici nel paese, come la chiusura dei media e la carcerazione dei giornalisti. Gli eurodeputati tengono d’occhio gli sviluppi della situazione turca e si chiedono se non sia il caso di rivalutare i rapporti con il paese.
